Rear view of the house, and back patio, which is a fabulous sun trap!
Hollyhock house has been in the family for five generations and is owned by Heidi and Andy Laughton-Hill. In 2014 it underwent a two year restoration project. It has been totally overhauled from top to bottom. The former family farmhouse, has been extensively renovated and now includes the converted barn and stable into a master bedroom and luxious en suite bathroom, and a large sitting room and utility room.
It is now peaceful retreat, somewhere to relax and get away from it all. A perfect holiday cottage for friends and family to get together or hens looking for a chilled weekend in the country. The house has all of the mod cons you'd expect including Aga, underfloor heating, wifi and a current DVD movie collection of over 200 titles.
It sleeps 8 adults and 3 children - plus another 5*
Master bedroom: - Double bed & en-suite/shower/roll top bath
George's Room: - King size bed & en-suite/shower.
Edith's room: - King size bed
Emma's room: - Double bed
Teddy's room: Triple bunk bed - roll top bath
In addition to this we also have can sleep another 5 plus a travel cot:
*Snug - double sofa bed
*A trio of single metal frame pop up beds, which are ideal for children/teens.
Mothercare travel cot and a pair of high chairs.
As part of the restoration project we have installed a large oak framed dinning room, which seats 16. From the dinning room there is a balcony where you can sit and watch the wildlife in the garden or sip your favourite tipple.
Hollyhock House sits within a large garden footprint. The area from the decking is called the lower lawn. It is a large space, enough to hold a large garden party, gazebo's etc in 2019 we bought a patio set of table and chairs so guests can relax more in this part of the garden. The photo above is the view from the rear patio, where sits a large oval teak set of table and chairs in the summer months. It captures the afternoon and evening sun and is a great sun trap. The patio doors take you into Emma's bedroom.
Then amongst the trees and spacious terraced lawns sits an arctic cabin, which is perfect for spending the evenings barbecuing.
The house is ideally situated for trips to Blenheim Palace -5 miles away, Daylesford- 20mins, Soho House - 20 mins, Bicester Village - 30 mins, the Cotswolds 30mins, Oxford 30 mins, Cheltenham 40mins away. Charlbury station is only 10 mins away and the nearest rail station out of Paddington. Living on the edge of the Cotwolds and in a rural location we have access to every out door activity you can image, horse riding, shooting, motor crossing. We have secure lock up for bikes and you can even bring your own horse if you wish. Please contact us if there is something in particular you'd like to experience. We also offer a chef, who will come and cook for your party or sunday lunch. They also offer a take away service.

Heidi and Andy are wonderful hosts, Heidi's correspondence to share ideas and offer things to do was super. Many thanks toy you both, we will be back!

A luxurious house in the Cotswolds with the added bonus of an arctic cabinHollyhock House, Stonesfield, England, OX29 8DN, United Kingdom

We had a fantastic 3 night stay at Hollyhock House for a family get together. The owners Heidi and Andy were so friendly and accommodating and the perfect hosts. The house is beautifully equipped and furnished, and the beds were all really comfortable. There was no need for us siblings to fight over the best room as they were all so well furnished. At the end of the beautiful garden is a large arctic cabin which easily fit all 11 of us for a bbq and a fire. Through the garden we enjoyed lovely walks in the woods where the dog could safely be off the lead. All in all, highly recommended and a perfect spot to explore the Cotswolds. Many thanks Heidi and Andy and hopefully we'll see you again.
